Got Stuff? Week 1- Your Mouth is like a Toothpaste Tube

8 Jan

Series: Stuff

Sermon Title: Toothpaste Tube

Sermon in a Sentence: Once something comes out of our mouths, we can never put it back in.

Bible Verses Use: James 1:19, Proverbs 15:1, Matthew 5:37

Weekend Scale of Difficulty: 5 out of 10

Attendance: 54

Element of Fun: Tooth Paste Squeeze race, followed by Kajabi Can Can

Understandable Message: For the next several weeks we are going to be taking a look at everyday household items, and applying them to God’s word. We had a great time talking about controlling our tongues, or cleaning up the messes that they make. The message hit home, all were in agreement that their foot does not belong in their mouth. God gave us two ears and one mouth, and if we listened twice as much as we spoke, we might not get into as much trouble.
The old saying sticks and stones can break my bones, but names will never hurt me….What a lie!!! Our words have the power to destroy or to build up. James 3:5-6 We have to decide, do we try to control our tongues, or do we spend our time trying to clean up the messes that they make? Much like sqeezing out too much toothpaste out of the tube, once words come out of our mouths, they can never be put back in.

Grade: B

Music Playlist: Breathe, No One Like You, Sing Sing Sing

Favorite Moment: Seeing the faces of the two students after the toothpaste race, when I told them the second part of the race was to put the toothpaste back in! We also showed the promo video we did for Chip A Brick, the students in the video did not know we were going to show it…..priceless!!!

Final Thought: Is my mouth getting me into trouble?
