Thinking Backward$

Teaching Series: Backward$ Week2

Sermon Title: Backward$ Thinking

Sermon in a Sentence: Use your Tithe, Talents, and Time to serve God and serve others.

Bible Verses Used: Matthew 25:23, Matthew 13:44, 2 Corinthians 9:7, Philippians 2:1-4, Luke 6:38

Scale of Difficulty: 6 out of 10

Service Length: 90min

Understandable Message: The main idea of the message is how can we use our time, talents, and tithe to honor God? We handed out cards asking students how can they use their SHAPE(Spiritual Gifts, Heart, Abilities, Personality, and Experience) to serve in our ministry. We received so great cards with students who will soon be starting in ministry!

Grade: B-

Volunteer/Student Involvement: Jeremy, and Austin on the board, Roni ran the snack shack, Sherry and Chris at check-in, Jayne ran the game of turkey bowling. Chris Roney was checking out our ministry for the first time. Chris is an awesome guy with a wealth of knowledge and experience. I think he will be a great addition to our team! Haley one of our student leaders made her first onstage announcements about Mexico Missions, she did an incredible job!

Element of Fun/Positive Environment: The first 15-20 min was hang out time. Students played games (spoons, cards, Xbox) connected, and enjoyed snacks. Jayne and Roni play a game of Turkey Bowling with the students. One frozen turkey in the bag, and six 2 liter bottles of soda as pins! Some of the bottles exploded, so NOT an in door game!

I gave away $10 in $1 bills explaining that every dollar is an opportunity. The students will use the dollar to bless someone else this week.
Part of the message was about the Change Challenge. Students were challenged to save their change for 2 weeks, as a way to begin tithing. We used polleverywhere to ask the students to text in 3 responses.
1. I am in (71%)
2. I am out (8%)
3. I will give it some thought (21%)

Music Playlist: Music played on the iPod during the hang out time, no band tonight 😦

Favorite Moment: Watching everything come together
